We are seeking an experienced and motivated Compliance Lead to join our friendly and well-established team. This role is ideal for a Lead or Senior Dental Nurse who enjoys compliance and governance without direct people management responsibilities. Smilemakers Cosmetic Dental Practice & Referral Centre is a high-quality, 11-surgery private practice and referral centre, delivering outstanding patient care in a modern, professional, and welcoming environment. We are known for our supportive culture, excellent facilities, and commitment to high clinical standards.
This is an exciting opportunity for an organised, forward-thinking individual with a strong understanding of compliance in a fast-paced clinical environment. You will work closely with the Practice Manager, providing regular updates and feedback, and taking ownership of assigned compliance-related responsibilities across the practice. Strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential in this busy mixed practice.
Key Responsibilities- Acting as the Practice Decontamination Lead
- Ensuring the overall practice compliance score consistently meets the required standard of 90% or above
- Overseeing CQC compliance and inspection readiness
- Completing and maintaining COSHH assessments and risk assessments
- Planning, carrying out, and documenting clinical and operational audits
- Reviewing, editing, and updating policies and procedures
- Tracking staff CPD and mandatory training, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date
- Conducting surgery and practice cleaning checks
- Maintaining emergency drugs and equipment
- Completing required fire safety checks
- Overseeing the maintenance of practice equipment
- Using the online compliance system DCME
- Supporting nursing duties when required, in line with practice needs
- Proven experience and strong understanding of compliance within a dental or clinical setting
- GDC Qualified
- Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Comfortable working with online compliance systems (DCME experience preferred)
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a supportive team
- Excellent communication skills, with a proactive and solutions-focused approach
- Highly organised, adaptable, and able to thrive in a busy practice environment
- Qualification in Dental Radiography (Desirable but not essential)
- Part-time, 3 days per week Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (8:15am β 5:30pm)
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience
