Mechanical Shift Technician

We are looking to recruit a motivated individual who can work as an individual and as part of a team of flexible electrical and mechanical technicians, reporting to the Mechanical Engineer. This role involves Monday–Friday days/afternoon shift work, day project/PPM work and being part of a call out rota.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Participate as a member of the multi-skilled Engineering team, working with other departments to improve performance and achieve objectives.
• Setting priorities from shift production teams\’ guidance.
• Breakdown maintenance.
• Significant involvement in project, development and installation work.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance.

Ensure:

• Safe working of all plant and equipment within Health & Safety requirements.
• Reacting effectively to minimize machine downtime, while executing planned preventative maintenance activities to increase machine availability and performance.
• An understanding of the manufacturing process which allows integration of the engineering team, with production personnel.

Person Specification

• High level of self-motivation and time management skills.
• Ability to organise and prioritise own workload around production requirements.
• Flexibility with Shifts inc. overtime.
• Strong work ethic.
• Good communication skills

Qualifications/Experience

• Timed served apprentice.
• Minimum ONC, or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with maintaining production equipment.
• Previous experience in a similar role.

Experience with the following is desirable, but not essential as in house training will be provided:

• Screw conveyor/Belt conveyor maintenance
• Hydraulic/pneumatic systems
• Rolling Mills
• Gas Burner Systems
• Overhead Crane Systems
• Steam systems
• Pump and Gearbox knowledge
• General fault finding & diagnostics skills

Additional skills desirable:

• Welding experience
• FLT/MEWP Training
• CMMS experience

Training –

• Training and competency plan
• In house training on Pumps/gearbox/hydraulics/pneumatics
• Fork Lift Truck
• MEWP
• Overhead Crane

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £45,000.00 per year
