Operations Executive | Urgent Contract Hire | Harwell, Oxfordshire | £50k-60k p/a FTE | Deep tech startup
Immediate interview | Immediate start preferred | Initial 3-month contract
We’re urgently looking for an Operations Executive / Operations Coordinator to join a growing technology business based in Harwell, Oxfordshire.
This is initially a short-term contract of approximately 3 months, with the possibility of extension depending on business requirements. The priority is finding someone who can start quickly, get organised and take care of the day-to-day operational workload without needing lots of hand-holding.
You do not need to tick every box or come from a highly specialised operations background.
We’re looking for a capable generalist who is comfortable getting stuck into a mixture of:
- General business and operations administration
- Keeping tasks, actions and deadlines on track
- Scheduling meetings and coordinating diaries
- Preparing meeting notes, trackers and status updates
- Supplier liaison, purchasing and chasing orders
- Processing invoices, expenses and purchase orders
- Basic finance and accounting administration
- Recruitment interview scheduling and candidate administration
- Employee onboarding, documentation and HR administration
- Maintaining records, files and internal documentation
- Office, facilities and general workplace coordination
- Supporting senior management with whatever needs sorting out
What we need
You’ll need to be:
- Highly organised and reliable
- Comfortable juggling several different tasks at once
- Good with Excel, spreadsheets and general Microsoft Office
- Confident communicating with colleagues, suppliers and external partners
- Detail-focused and good at following things through
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving environment
- Happy doing the practical day-to-day work rather than just managing it
Previous experience in operations, office management, business support, project administration, HR administration, finance administration or a similar generalist role would all be relevant.
Experience with systems such as Xero, Pleo, Zelt, Asana, Notion or Monday.com would be useful, but is not essential.
Experience in a start-up, technology, engineering or scientific business would also be helpful, but again, not a requirement.
The key thing is availability.
This is an urgent hire. Interviews can take place immediately and we would ideally like someone who can start straight away or at very short notice.
Contract: Approx. 3 months initially
Start: ASAP
Extension: Potential to extend, although this cannot be guaranteed
