Air Conditioning & HVAC Service Engineer | London | Upto £58k p/a | Facilities | M&E
We’re recruiting an experienced HVAC Service Engineer to join a growing engineering business, covering commercial sites across Central London and the surrounding areas .
This is a field-based position suited to an engineer who is confident working independently, diagnosing faults and maintaining a broad range of HVAC equipment. You’ll be travelling to customer sites daily, primarily throughout London, with occasional project work elsewhere in the UK.
The successful candidate will ideally have at least 5 years’ hands-on HVAC experience and a strong background in service, maintenance and fault-finding.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for servicing, maintaining and troubleshooting a range of commercial HVAC systems across customer sites.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Planned and reactive maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs efficiently
- Working on chillers, AHUs, FCUs and DX systems
- Servicing and fault-finding on VRV/VRF and split air-conditioning systems
- Identifying failed components and recommending appropriate repairs or remedial works
- Carrying out system checks, testing and performance assessments
- Investigating recurring faults and identifying underlying causes rather than simply replacing parts
- Completing service reports and providing clear feedback following site visits
- Liaising directly with customers, site managers and facilities teams
- Supporting installation, replacement and upgrade projects where required
- Working independently across multiple commercial sites
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and to a high professional standard
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an engineer with strong practical HVAC knowledge rather than someone who has worked on only one type of system.
You should ideally have:
- 5+ years’ experience working as an HVAC, Air Conditioning, Chiller or Building Services Engineer
- Strong knowledge of chillers
- Experience with Air Handling Units (AHUs)
- Experience with Fan Coil Units (FCUs)
- Good knowledge of DX air-conditioning systems
- Experience working with VRV/VRF and split systems
- Excellent electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability
- Confidence diagnosing complex HVAC faults without constant supervision
- Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance
- A good understanding of commercial building services environments
- Strong customer-facing and communication skills
- The ability to manage your own workload and travel between sites efficiently
- A full UK driving licence
Previous HVAC installation experience would be useful, particularly for replacement or upgrade projects, but it is not essential if your service, maintenance and fault-finding experience is strong.
Location & Travel
The majority of your work will be across Central London and surrounding areas , so you must be comfortable travelling into and around London on a daily basis.
There will also occasionally be projects elsewhere in the UK, so some flexibility to travel further afield when required is important.
Who This Role Would Suit
This could be a strong opportunity for someone currently working as a:
- Air Conditioning Engineer
- Chiller Engineer
- HVAC Maintenance Engineer
- Mobile HVAC Engineer
If you’re an experienced HVAC engineer with strong fault-finding skills and broad knowledge across chillers, AHUs, FCUs and DX systems, we’d be interested in speaking with you.
