HR Manager | Part-time 22.5h per week | Hybrid WFH | London | £35k-£39k p/a
Location: London / Hybrid working 1-2 days a week in office, remote WFH rest of the time
Hours: 22.5h per week – flexible working pattern
Salary: c. £35k-39k p/a
We're recruiting an experienced HR Manager to take ownership of the people function for a growing, purpose-led organisation.
This is a standalone position offering considerable autonomy. You'll work closely with senior leadership while remaining hands-on across the full employee lifecycle.
The organisation is looking for someone who can assess what is already in place, identify what needs improving and build practical HR processes that work.
The role offers significant flexibility, with a mixture of home working and approximately 1–2 days per week in the London office.
The role
You'll have responsibility for the organisation's HR function, including:
- Developing and implementing the overall people and HR strategy
- Advising senior leadership on organisational structure, culture and people-related decisions
- Managing the full employee lifecycle from recruitment and onboarding through to exit
- Managing employee relations including disciplinary, grievance and redundancy processes
- Reviewing and developing HR policies, procedures and the Employee Handbook
- Leading recruitment and workforce planning alongside hiring managers
- Developing structured approaches to pay, progression, benefits and performance management
- Coaching managers on people management and HR best practice
- Developing learning, development and employee engagement initiatives
- Managing and improving HR systems, employee data and reporting
- Ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation and GDPR
- Supporting organisational change and the continued development of an effective hybrid working culture
What we're looking for
You'll ideally be an experienced HR Manager, People Manager, HR Business Partner or Senior HR Generalist who is comfortable operating independently.
We're particularly interested in candidates who have:
- Broad HR generalist experience spanning both strategic and operational HR
- Previous experience working as a standalone HR professional, or in a similarly autonomous position
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law
- Hands-on employee relations experience
- Experience managing recruitment and the wider employee lifecycle
- The ability to create and improve HR policies, processes and frameworks
- Confidence advising and influencing senior management
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Experience using HR data and metrics to support decision-making
- A pragmatic, hands-on approach – you'll need to be comfortable developing strategy and then implementing it yourself
A CIPD Level 5+ qualification would be advantageous, as would previous experience within an SME or scaling organisation, HRIS implementation, organisational change or supporting employees internationally.
Why consider it?
This isn't a heavily siloed corporate HR position. You'll have genuine ownership of the people function and direct access to senior leadership, with the freedom to shape HR processes and influence how the organisation develops.
The 20-hour working week and flexible hybrid arrangement could make it particularly attractive to an experienced HR professional looking for a senior, autonomous position without returning to a conventional five-day working week.
