We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven National Quality Auditor to oversee and maintain quality, compliance, and audit standards across our asbestos operations nationwide. This role is critical in ensuring all surveying, analytical, and laboratory activities meet regulatory, accreditation, and internal quality requirements. The successful candidate will lead internal audits, support external assessments, and drive continuous improvement in line with guidance from the Health and Safety Executive and accreditation requirements set by UKAS and closely assist our Technical Manager with general SHEQ matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and coordinating the induction process of new technical members (but not including HR, logistics, IT etc. aspects of the induction)
  • Assist in on-site training/guidance to ensure less experienced staff are given the knowledge to progress
  • Auditing and training new members of technical staff and supporting Technical Manager in carrying out initial authorisations as per operating manual once they are deemed competent
  • Managing on-going competency audits of existing field team members
  • Ensuring all records are correctly filed and updated on completion as per our operating procedures
  • Carrying out quality inspections of completed asbestos surveys and 4SC (including desktop audits of 4SC paperwork)
  • Supporting Technical Manager with undertaking refresher training/re-training
  • Co-ordinating internal monthly requirements as per management systems; review of QC & RICE results, RPE checks, analyst slide retention etc.
  • Managing and arranging purchasing, service, repairs and calibrations and inspections of equipment for testing and inspection, access equipment and RPE as required
  • To provide appropriate feedback to the Technical Manager / Regional Manager of any suspected non-confirming works
  • Part of the investigation team as required to assist gathering information for the Technical Manager when complaints and/or non-conforming works arise
  • Supporting Technical Manager in carrying out internal company vertical audits

Essential Requirements

  • Extensive experience in the asbestos industry (surveying, analytical, or laboratory background)
  • Strong working knowledge of Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, HSG248, and HSG264
  • Proven experience in auditing, quality assurance, or compliance roles
  • In-depth understanding of UKAS accreditation processes
  • Experience with ISO/IEC 17020 and/or ISO/IEC 17025 quality systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally

  • BOHS P402 Surveying and Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings
  • BOHS P403 Air Sampling and Fibre Counting (PCM)
  • BOHS P404 Clearance Testing and the Requirements for Certificate of Reoccupation
  • Or
  • RSPH Level 3 Award in Asbestos Surveying
  • RSPH Level 3 Award in Asbestos Air Monitoring and Clearance Procedures
