We are seeking an Environmental Health Officer / Senior Environmental Health Officer (EHO) for our Health & Safety team.
The purpose of this role is to undertake health and safety regulatory work to protect the health of people choosing to work in businesses in the Wakefield District. You will go out and visit varied businesses to advise and support them with their health and safety.
What I might be doing:
- Will cover the full range of health and safety interventions, including inspections, accident and complaint investigations and the provision of health and safety advice.
- You will undertake a range of interventions as an authorised local authority officer and ensure businesses comply with relevant legislation and statutory guidance relating to the regulatory function.
Essential requirements:
- Accredited BSc degree or MSc in Environmental Health or other equivalent relevant professional qualification for Senior/EHO/Unregistered EHO levels.
- Student level applicants must be within a year of finishing a degree or master’s degree.
- Registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (including EHRB) for Senior/EHO levels.
- Full UK Category B Driving Licence for cars / light vans, vehicles can be provided.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and competency in the Food Law Code of Practice for the Food role. (Senior/EHO levels)
- Excellent customer care as training and support in the role will be given.
- Demonstrate an ability to self-motivate with an enthusiastic can-do attitude.

What can I expect?
- Full-Time post of 37 hours per week, part time 18.5 hours applications will be considered for job share.
- Visiting locations throughout the district. Office work location is flexible, either home and office based (with home working equipment provided) or office based at Wakefield One (near Westgate Station).
