Are you environmentally driven and searching for a role where you can shape the future of green transport in North Yorkshire? We’re hiring an Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (EVI) Technician to lead the on‑site delivery of our ambitious Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) programme and our Renewable Energy Pilot Scheme.

North Yorkshire Council is investing over £8 million into the future of sustainable transport through our Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) and LEVI Renewable Energy Pilot schemes. Our aim is to install over 3,000 EV charge points by 2030 in line with our EV Rollout Strategy to support residents without off‑street parking and pioneer renewable‑powered charging in protected landscapes.

As our EVI Site Technician you will:

  • Oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient installation and commissioning of EV charge points across North Yorkshire.
  • Work closely with our Charge Point Operator (CPO), contractors, and stakeholders to ensure high‑quality delivery.
  • Monitor and inspect renewable energy infrastructure at pilot sites (solar, hydro, battery storage).
  • Review technical documentation, electrical safety certificates, and site designs.

The nature of this role is Hybrid, and the post holder will work from our offices, home, and across the county on site visits.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience of Highways engineering projects, electrical installation works, EV charging infrastructure, renewable energy systems, and electrical safety standards.
  • Experience managing site‑level delivery of electrical or civil infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with regulations such as BS7671, IET Code of Practice for EV Charging, CDM 2015, and WEEE.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and hold contractors accountable.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A relevant technical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds/NVQ in Electrical Engineering or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the county.
