Durham County Council’s Business Process Review (BPR) programme seeks an ICT Engineer to support service teams across the Council in improving efficiency through Microsoft 365 and digital technologies. The role will deliver technical guidance, training and support for digital transformation initiatives, help services adopt new tools, and validate solutions to maximise benefits.

Contract: Temporary, 3 years from start date.

Location: Durham, Durham

Salary: £35,412 to £39,152 p.a. (Pay Award Pending)

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to improve services using Microsoft 365 and digital technologies.
  • Provide technical support, guidance and training to colleagues across the organisation.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business needs and deliver measurable benefits.
  • Support the implementation of digital solutions and service improvements.
  • Assist with testing and user adoption activities for new solutions and ways of working.
  • Contribute to the Council’s wider digital transformation and continuous improvement ambitions.

What We Need

  • NVQ Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in Information Technology, Digital Technologies, Business Systems or related discipline, OR substantial relevant experience.
  • Significant experience supporting Microsoft 365 technologies and enabling users to use Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Forms, Lists and other Microsoft 365 services.
  • Experience delivering training and guidance to a wide range of audiences, providing excellent customer support and helping colleagues adopt new technologies.
  • Experience in ICT maintenance, support and installation, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and deliver practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills; ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration, developing e‑learning resources or supporting digital solutions in a large organisation is advantageous.
