Overview

As Senior Manager, you will lead a dedicated team protecting one of England’s most important heathland landscapes. You’ll steer a high-profile conservation programme that balances nature recovery with public access, working across a broad partnership of landowners, authorities and charities. You’ll spend time on the heath with wardens and partners to see impact firsthand and shape strategy. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to drive tangible conservation outcomes and community engagement at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of permanent and seasonal wardens
  • Coordinate with local authorities, landowners and major partners (Natural England, Wildlife Trusts, RSPB, Forestry England, MoD, The Crown Estate)
  • Shape the future of a conservation programme funded via developer contributions
  • Represent the partnership with councillors, stakeholders and strategic boards
  • Ensure delivery of ambitious visitor engagement and conservation objectives
  • Coach and mentor staff to build leadership capabilities
  • Support major public engagement initiatives such as Heath Week
  • Oversee on-site visits and on-the-ground engagement with partners and wardens
