Lancashire County Council is looking for an organised, self-motivated and methodical Technical Support Officer to work primarily on the Biological Heritage Sites system (Lancashire's County Wildlife Sites) and to support the work of the Biological Heritage Sites ecologists.The successful candidate will be utilising and developing their administration, data management and people skills, and gaining understanding and experience in a broad range of ecological practices, land management principals and stakeholder engagement.In 1993, Lancashire launched a pioneering approach to identify and help protect non-statutory local wildlife sites by establishing the Biological Heritage Sites (BHS) system, which currently identifies 1,231 sites across the county.The post lies within a team which also operates the Lancashire Environment Record Network (LERN), the local environmental records centre for Lancashire. About youThe successful candidate will have excellent data management (including GIS) skills.About usThe Biological Heritage Site team maintains and updates the BHS system, undertakes a rolling programme of site surveys, offers land management advice and advice on potential grants and support available for the positive management of sites.
