Overview

In this role you drive community engagement to reduce waste and promote reuse, repair and recycling across north London. You will design and deliver hands-on activities, workshops and events in collaboration with local residents and partners. You’ll help deliver waste prevention campaigns and support the North London Community Fund, with a focus on practical, people-centred solutions. Expect a mix of desk-based planning and face-to-face engagement, offering real impact on behavioural change in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver community-level engagement projects (workshops, activities and events)
  • Deliver waste prevention campaigns and relate to joint strategies across member boroughs
  • Provide information to the public through face-to-face engagement with audiences of varying knowledge
  • Develop initiatives on topics such as food waste reduction and nature-based sessions to promote waste reduction
  • Support the North London Community Fund by coordinating with not-for-profit organisations
  • Brief and oversee contractors or project partners; monitor and evaluate project activities
  • Manage workload, time management and organisation; maintain punctuality and responsiveness
  • Work a mix of desk-based and field activities and adapt to duties as required

Key requirements

  • Passion for sustainability and working with local communities
  • Experience engaging the public in diverse settings; strong communication skills
  • Adaptable, proactive, and able to take initiative in different environments
  • Ability to influence pro-environmental behaviours and motivate others
  • Self-motivated with good workload planning and stakeholder engagement
  • Practical experience of MS Office
  • UK driving licence desirable but not essential
