Overview

In this role you will lead a directorate to unite communications, campaigns, fundraising and public affairs, shaping how the Trust builds public support and sustainable income. You will drive audience development, digital engagement and visitor experiences to deepen participation and long-term support. As a senior leader, you’ll align four Heads of Service, work with the Trustee Board, and contribute to the federation, delivering impact for Yorkshire’s wildlife and communities. You will act as a strategic connector across engagement, income and advocacy to advance the Trust’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction to integrate communications, marketing and public affairs across supporter engagement, fundraising, communications, public affairs and visitor services
  • Develop audiences, propositions and campaigns that convert interest into participation, advocacy and income
  • Leverage CRM, segmentation and digital engagement to strengthen supporter journeys and grow sustainable income across multiple income streams
  • Lead and empower four Heads of Service to deliver high-impact programmes and campaigns
  • Collaborate with the Trustee Board and The Wildlife Trusts federation to drive alignment and delivery
  • Champion an inclusive, diverse organisation and build capacity across the directorate
  • Promote visitor experiences as a pathway to engagement and ongoing support

Key requirements

  • Senior-level experience in integrating communications, marketing and public affairs
  • Proven track record in developing audiences, propositions and campaigns that drive participation, advocacy and income
  • Experience using audience insight, CRM systems, segmentation and digital engagement
  • Experience leading inclusive, collaborative teams and working with boards or senior governance bodies
  • Ability to secure sustainable income across multiple streams (membership, giving, appeals, legacies, philanthropy, trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, sponsorship, visitor income)
