We work on a variety of projects across the southwest, from small-scale householder projects through to larger landscape recovery schemes focused on habitat creation and enhancement.We’re looking to expand our friendly and experienced team and are keen to welcome an ecologist who shares our passion for wildlife, habitats and the natural environment.This full-time permanent position offers a varied mix of desk-based work and fieldwork, with plenty of opportunity to develop your skills, share your knowledge and get involved in a diverse range of projects.The RoleAs is the nature of ecology work no two projects are quite the same, so you can look forward to a varied role which will include:Undertaking Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), carrying out Biodiversity Condition Assessments and undertaking protected species surveysUsing QGIS to produce habitat mapsPreparing clear, accurate and well-written ecological reportsCarrying out Ecological Clerk of WorksManaging projects including collaborating with other members of the teamBuilding positive relationships with clients and communicating effectively with a range of stakeholdersCriteriaWe’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about ecology, enjoys working as part of a team and is keen to continue learning and developing.EssentialAt least two years’ experience of working within an ecological consultancyOne or more protected species licencesA good understanding of wildlife policy and legislationStrong report writing skillsProficiency in QGISGood communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise your workload effectivelyAn enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and learning from othersA full UK driving licenceDesirableA degree in a relevant subject (minimum BSc)CIEEM membership, or be working towards itFISC level 3/4BenefitsAt Ecologic we want our team to feel supported, valued and encouraged to grow.
