We’re looking for an experienced and skilled communications professional to help us tell compelling stories, build strong stakeholder relationships and enhance our reputation as one of the UK’s leading environmental charities.

As Communications & Campaigns Manager (Stakeholder Communications), you’ll manage reputation-focused communications and campaigns for a range of external audiences and internal stakeholders. You’ll lead stakeholder communications activity, support partnership PR initiatives, and create clear, persuasive content across online and offline channels. You’ll report to the Head of Communications & Campaigns and work closely with colleagues across the organisation to translate complex marine conservation work into accessible, engaging multi-channel narratives.

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll play a key role in strengthening how the Marine Conservation Society communicates with staff, partners and wider stakeholder audiences.
  • Build the organisation’s reputation and reach through strong internal and external communications.
  • Lead stakeholder communications for campaigns, projects and partnership PR initiatives.
  • Develop narratives, write and edit copy, and shape content for a wide range of audiences and channels.
  • Manage internal communications activity.
  • Act as communications lead for events such as the AGM.
  • Maintain an integrated communications calendar and support KPI reporting for communications outputs.
  • Provide storytelling, reputation positioning and science communication support across the organisation.

About you:

  • You’ll be an experienced communications professional who can build relationships, manage competing priorities and create content that is accurate, accessible and inspiring.
  • Experience managing internal and external communications across different channels and audiences.
  • Strong knowledge of stakeholder communications, relationship management and campaign delivery.
  • A proven track record of writing and editing reader-friendly articles, publications and reports.
  • Experience developing storytelling and reputation-positioning narratives, including translating scientific or technical content for general audiences.
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and time management.
  • Confidence working under scrutiny, particularly where reputation or media interest is involved.

It would also be helpful if you have experience with SharePoint intranet management, e-news design or distribution tools, social and digital media, environmental issues, marine conservation, or professional PR and communications qualifications.

How you’ll work:

This is a remote, full-time role with occasional travel to external meetings and events, so you’ll need to live in the UK and have appropriate eligibility to work. You’ll need to be comfortable working from home with remote teams, using your initiative and knowing when to involve senior colleagues. We’re looking for someone proactive, supportive, approachable, responsible, and hard working — a strong team player who can stay calm under pressure, adapt to changing priorities and work positively with a wide range of people.

The benefits:

  • We offer a supportive, flexible and remote-first working environment, alongside a benefits package designed to help you balance meaningful work with your wellbeing.
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays (increasing with service), with extra closure days at Christmas.
  • 8% employer pension contribution, with no employee match required.
  • Sick pay at full pay for 8 weeks, then 8 weeks at half pay, after probation.
  • Flexible working and a remote-first approach.
  • Health and wellbeing support, including an employee assistance programme.
  • One paid volunteering day each year to support a charity of your choice.
  • Cycle-to-work scheme.

Role details:

  • Contract: 35 hours a week, full-time, permanent
  • Location: Remote (in the UK)
  • Salary: 30,000 to 35,000
  • Reports to: Head of Communications & Campaigns
