Overview
In this role you will lead landscape-scale nature restoration across the South West, focusing on Dorset and Wiltshire. You’ll work with Property Teams and Farmers to embed nature-positive land-management practices that support restoration across farms, woodlands, uplands, and urban green spaces. You will translate ambitious nature-recovery goals into practical delivery, supported by ecological assessments, funding activity, and collaboration with partners. Responsibilities
- Lead habitat restoration and species-recovery initiatives across varied habitats
- Support Property Teams and Farmers to adopt nature-positive, low-carbon land-management practices
- Shape land-management to embed nature recovery at a landscape scale
- Conduct ecological assessments, manage contracts, and develop monitoring plans
- Ensure measurable outcomes such as habitat condition improvements and biodiversity net gain
- Proactively secure funding and collaborate with grant specialists and regional delivery teams
- Represent the National Trust in regional collaborations and coordinate with partners and contractors for large-scale restoration
Key requirements
- Proven experience delivering nature recovery across varied habitats
- Experience mentoring, managing, or leading others
- Strong collaborative approach to bring teams and partners together
- Credibility with Restore Nature sector, partner organisations, farmers, and local communities
- Understanding of land use and management challenges with track record of maximizing nature gain
- Confident communication and negotiation skills to inspire and build trust
- Solid knowledge of UK conservation policy and funding landscape
- Ability to translate ambitious goals into practical, high-impact delivery
