About the Role
ERM is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate EIA Coordinator to join our growing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of nationally significant infrastructure, renewable energy, and capital development projects across both onshore and offshore sectors. The role will provide exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects including offshore wind, onshore wind, transmission infrastructure, solar, battery storage, ports, marine developments, and wider capital projects. Graduate EIA Coordinators play an important role in supporting multidisciplinary teams through the coordination, planning, and delivery of environmental assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- EIA Project Coordination
- Support the coordination of EIA and consenting projects from screening and scoping through to submission.
- Assist Project Managers in managing multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Track project actions, deliverables, budgets, and programme milestones.
- Coordinate inputs from environmental specialists and subconsultants.
- Arrange project meetings, prepare agendas, and record actions.
- Environmental Assessment Support
- Assist with the preparation and review of EIA reports, Environmental Statements (ES), Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR), and supporting documentation.
- Draft non-technical and introductory report sections.
- Support quality assurance reviews of technical chapters.
- Collate consultation responses and stakeholder feedback.
- Maintain project document control systems.
- Onshore and Offshore Project Delivery
- Support renewable energy, transmission, infrastructure, marine, and offshore wind projects.
- Assist with coordination of environmental surveys and specialist assessments.
- Support consents and permitting activities across UK regulatory frameworks.
- Contribute to project submissions to planning and consenting authorities.
- Client and Team Support
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, technical specialists, and project teams.
- Participate in project meetings and client communications.
- Support bid and proposal activities where required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in: Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Geography, Marine Science, Ecology, Planning, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
- Understanding of the UK EIA process and environmental legislation.
- Knowledge of offshore wind, renewable energy, or infrastructure sectors.
- GIS experience.
- Membership or working towards membership of IEMA or a relevant professional body.
- Previous internship or placement experience in environmental consultancy.
