Position: Commercial Director

Our Client:
An integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector, with over 1,000 staff across eight regional centres. They primarily support long-term water sector frameworks, working independently and in joint ventures and alliances.
The Role:
Seeking to strengthen their Commercial team with a Senior Commercial Manager/Commercial Director in the Southern Water Region. The role involves managing a large project valued at circa £150m, providing commercial support and leadership to ensure delivery within budget and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Contract Management: Oversee negotiations, ensuring contracts serve the company\’s best interests.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate commercial risks proactively.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Change Management: Manage contract changes proactively.
- Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, optimize costs, and enhance profitability.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and supervise the commercial team to meet goals.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in commercial management, preferably in the water sector.
- Experience managing projects over £100m successfully.
- BSc or HND in Quantity Surveying or related construction field.
- Professional qualification (RICS, ICES, CIOB).
- Extensive knowledge of NEC, PSC, ECC contracts with clients and supply chains.
- Strong understanding of commercial and financial systems in large-scale projects.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with senior management responsibilities and strategic business objectives.
- Ability to develop best practices and shape future commercial strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
