Position: Commercial Director

Our Client:

An integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector, with over 1,000 staff across eight regional centres. They primarily support long-term water sector frameworks, working independently and in joint ventures and alliances.

The Role:

Seeking to strengthen their Commercial team with a Senior Commercial Manager/Commercial Director in the Southern Water Region. The role involves managing a large project valued at circa £150m, providing commercial support and leadership to ensure delivery within budget and on schedule.

Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company objectives.
2. Contract Management: Oversee negotiations, ensuring contracts serve the company\’s best interests.
3. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate commercial risks proactively.
4. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
5. Change Management: Manage contract changes proactively.
6. Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, optimize costs, and enhance profitability.
7. Team Leadership: Mentor and supervise the commercial team to meet goals.

Experience & Qualifications:

1. Proven experience in commercial management, preferably in the water sector.
2. Experience managing projects over £100m successfully.
3. BSc or HND in Quantity Surveying or related construction field.
4. Professional qualification (RICS, ICES, CIOB).
5. Extensive knowledge of NEC, PSC, ECC contracts with clients and supply chains.
6. Strong understanding of commercial and financial systems in large-scale projects.
7. Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
8. Experience with senior management responsibilities and strategic business objectives.
9. Ability to develop best practices and shape future commercial strategies.
10. Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
