Environmental Essentials are a well-established asbestos company with 3 offices across the UK and an excellent reputation for delivering a first class, quality focused service to a number of very high-profile clients. Our expansion, continued growth and recent major contract wins means that we are looking for an Asbestos Technical Manager to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of an expanding company showing continued year-on-year growth.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Asbestos Technical Manager will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s UKAS accreditation to ISO17025 and ISO17020.
The Job Role
- Ensuring that all employees within the Asbestos Division adhere to the asbestos technical procedures, through the review of audits and training needs.
- Managing the technical audit schedule to ensure that employee authorisations are maintained.
- Providing confirmation of authorisation status of technical staff, and maintenance of skills matrix.
- Managing and maintaining the QA process for inspection and testing activities (re-surveys, stage 2 checks, and desktop reviews of 4SC).
- The design, delivery and review of technical training activities (toolbox, annual refresher etc.).
- Supervision and training of trainee technical staff when necessary.
- The supervision of the technical assessor during UKAS visits, and assist with the close out of any technical related UKAS findings.
- The investigation of nonconformances relating to inspection and testing activities.
- Monitoring the performance and standards of technical auditors.
- Completion of site-based technical audits as required.
- Assisting in the onboarding and induction of new staff, including trainee and qualified staff, and responsible for timely feedback and decision making during the probationary review period.
- Managing and maintaining up to date equipment records.
- Completing calibrations and arranging external maintenance/servicing activities.
- Managing internal QC schemes (fibre counting and bulk sample analysis) and external proficiency testing schemes (RICE and AIMS).
- Purchasing and managing consumables.
About You
- Relevant experience working within the industry, preferably in a technical role.
- Minimum P401, P402, P403, P404 (or equivalent) or Certificate of Competence in Asbestos.
- Previous experience within each discipline would be an advantage (bulk analysis, surveying and analytical).
- Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office).
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under own initiative, effectively managing time to achieve the role objectives.
