About The Role
As a Senior Specialist within the Habitat Creation team, you will play a pivotal leadership role in the safe, timely and cost‑effective delivery of habitat creation and enhancement projects across your region. In addition to managing your own portfolio of sites, you will provide oversight, guidance and escalation support to Habitat Delivery Specialists, ensuring high‑quality delivery standards and consistent application of best practice. You will work closely with Land Managers, Ecologists and Applied Ecologists to plan and deliver habitat creation and enhancement works, including woodland and scrub establishment, species‑rich grassland creation, wetland construction, and associated infrastructure. You will also take responsibility for regional resourcing decisions, ensuring workloads are balanced equitably and aligned with team members' strengths and development goals.

We are looking for a senior Habitat Delivery Specialist to cover the South of England.
Responsibilities
- Project and delivery leadership
- Lead day‑to‑day project management including planning, execution, progress tracking and milestone reporting.
- Oversee accurate budget planning, monitoring and forecasting, ensuring alignment with agreed spend profiles.
- Appoint and manage contractors and suppliers in line with Environment Bank policies, including negotiation of contract terms.
- Coordinate and oversee contractor performance on site, ensuring quality, safety and ecological integrity.
- Manage on‑site progress, quality and issue resolution, escalating risks and changes where impacts exceed agreed tolerances.
- Review Construction Phase Plans (or equivalent), delivery methodologies and contribute to project risk registers.
- Manage contractor KPIs and ensure delivery meets ecological, regulatory, contractual and quality requirements.
- Champion value‑for‑money delivery without compromising ecological outcomes.
- Maintain strong relationships with landowners, contractors and stakeholders.
- Team leadership, coaching and line management
- Provide line management to Habitat Delivery Specialists, including objective setting, performance reviews and ongoing support.
- Offer coaching, mentoring and technical guidance to build capability and confidence across the team.
- Act as a point of escalation for delivery challenges, providing clear direction and decision‑making.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and professional development.
- Regional Resourcing & workforce planning
- Make informed resourcing decisions across the region, ensuring workloads are balanced and aligned with team strengths.
- Support prioritisation of work and allocation of delivery packages to optimise efficiency and quality.
- Identify skills gaps and development needs, working with leadership to shape training and recruitment plans.

- Significant hands‑on delivery experience in agricultural land‑based or habitat creation environments.
- Demonstrable experience managing contractors and on‑site works.
- Strong project management capability including budgets, delivery plans, schedules and constraints.
- Experience working directly with farmers and/or landowners in a professional capacity.
- Proven ability or clear potential to coach, mentor or lead others, with experience of line management or team leadership.
- Strong interpersonal skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent organisation, planning and time‑management skills.

- Ability to balance quality, time and cost under site‑level pressures.

- A Health and Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH/IOSH).
