About the role

As a paralegal at Environment Bank, you will play a vital role in supporting our team by conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, reviewing contracts and non-disclosure agreements, and assisting with various administrative tasks.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of legal matters and collaborate with qualified lawyers within the team to deliver outstanding legal services both to our clients and internal stakeholders.

Although the role is primarily remote, the candidate should be able to travel to our London office for meetings with their supervisor and wider team.

There will also be the requirement to occasionally meet at other locations.

While we envisage the role being full time, we would welcome applications from anybody looking for a part-time role.

Key responsibilities

  • BNG Delivery Legal Support
  • Becoming a key partner to the Sales team to ensure legal support throughout the sales process
  • Issuing unit reservation agreements/purchase agreements to developers, and supporting on negotiations
  • Preparing Unit Purchase Certificates to evidence the purchase of biodiversity units by developers
  • Helping to gather responses to questions from local planning authorities, planning officers, and developers, liaising with the Data & GIS Team where appropriate
  • Making allocations of biodiversity units to developments on the Biodiversity Gains Site Register and liaising with Natural England where appropriate
  • Other Support
  • Raising purchase orders for the team
  • Reviewing and negotiating non-disclosure agreements
  • Supporting on the review and negotiation of agreements for the supply of goods / services to Environment Bank, flexing your skills to the requirements of the business
  • Focusing on enhancing processes, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and optimisation
  • Ad-hoc research tasks
  • Occasional support on tasks related to our Land and Ecology teams, such as applying to register Habitat Banks onto the Biodiversity Gains Site Register, supporting on Conservation Covenants or Section 106 Agreements, and other tasks relating to the onboarding of our Habitat Banks

  • Proficiency in legal research and document management.
