Overview

As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety. This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training and promote the use and benefits of Memex and improve the quality of intelligence submitted.

Responsibilities include providing face-to-face training on Memex, supporting area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches, supervising intelligence logs for quality, creating entities from Memex submissions, and providing regular performance reports and feedback.

You will be comfortable working in a dispersed team, with location flexibility and occasional travel to Birmingham and other offices. Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October.

Responsibilities

  • Provide MEMEX training to area staff and promote its use and benefits.
  • Provide support and training to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
  • Supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of quality in submissions.
  • Create entities from MEMEX submissions.
  • Provide regular reports on performance and feedback on improvements.
  • Ensure high standards of quality in intelligence submissions.
  • Carry out other duties commensurate with the role.
  • Respond to incidents as part of the role; available to provide incident or business continuity support (may attract additional payment and full training).

Experience / Skills Required

  • Good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems.
  • Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed across teams.
  • Excellent influencing skills; Memex use should be the norm with mandatory safety checks.
  • Success in building strong, effective relationships.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to feedback on intelligence submission performance.
  • Strong self-management and organisational skills.
  • Great teamwork to support colleagues in achieving common goals.

Location, Travel and General Information

You will be comfortable with working in a dispersed team. Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices where staff are based will be required on occasions. Inter views will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October.
