Environ Property Services is seeking an experienced, reliable, and hard-working Groundworker to join our growing drainage division. This role involves carrying out a wide range of groundworks, drainage excavations, reinstatement works, concrete and paving repairs, and general civil engineering activities across residential and commercial properties throughout London. The successful candidate will work closely with Drainage Engineers, Supervisors, and Labourers to ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must reside within one hour's travelling distance of Fulham, London (SW6 4HH).
- Full UK driving licence is essential.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Groundworker within the construction, drainage, utilities / property maintenance industry.
- Strong experience with installing ACO drainage systems, fixing large drainage remedial works, installing of manholes, running pipework and running external sewer stacks.
- Experience in drainage excavations and reinstatement works.
- Good understanding of underground services and safe digging practices.
- Experience using small plant and power tools.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual labour.
- CSCS Card, CPCS or NPORS plant qualifications would be advantageous, but are not essential.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Groundworks: Carry out excavation works for drainage installations, repairs, and major remedial works.
- Excavate safely around live underground services using appropriate digging methods.
- Dig and prepare trenches for underground drainage systems, foul water, surface water, and combined drainage installations.
- Prepare excavation areas for new installations, repairs, and reinstatement works.
- Install ducting, drainage channels, inspection chambers, gullies, and underground pipework.
- Backfill and compact excavations using the correct materials and methods to meet specification.
- Read and interpret site drawings, drainage layouts, and service plans to ensure accurate installation of underground infrastructure.
- Drainage Installation & Remedial Works: Install new underground foul water and surface water drainage systems in accordance with engineering drawings and Building Regulations.
- Install ACO drainage systems, including channel drains, slot drains, gratings, and associated surface water drainage components.
- Install inspection chambers, catch pits, bottle gullies, rodding eyes, and drainage access points.
- Construct and install precast concrete and plastic manholes, including bases, chamber rings, benching, covers, and frames.
- Install, repair, replace, and reroute underground drainage pipework using PVC, clay, and HDPE systems.
- Carry out major drainage remedial works, including replacing collapsed drains, damaged pipework, defective junctions, and failed underground drainage systems.
- Excavate and expose defective drainage systems to facilitate repairs or replacement.
- Install new drainage runs for residential and commercial properties, extensions, and refurbishment projects.
- Assist with drainage investigations identified through CCTV surveys and carry out excavation works as required.
- External Drainage & Pipework: Install and connect external soil stacks, sewer stacks, rainwater pipework, and associated fittings.
- Install underground drainage connections to existing drainage infrastructure.
- Ensure all pipework is installed with the correct gradients, alignment, bedding, and jointing methods.
- Install drainage fittings, junctions, bends, reducers, access points, and inspection points in accordance with specifications.
- Carry out repairs and alterations to existing external drainage systems.
- Reinstatement Works: Reinstate excavations following drainage works using approved materials and methods.
- Carry out concrete, tarmac, asphalt, block paving, paving slab, and footpath reinstatement.
- Reinstate driveways, gardens, landscaped areas, patios, kerbs, and external surfaces to a high standard.
- Ensure all reinstatement works comply with client specifications and local authority requirements.
- Plant, Equipment & Site Operations: Operate breakers, compactors, cut-off saws, mixers, trench compactors, and other small plant safely and competently.
- Load, unload, transport, and organise materials, equipment, and plant.
- Maintain all company equipment and tools in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
- Assist Drainage Engineers and Supervisors on complex installations and remedial projects.
- Ensure van stock, materials, and equipment are maintained and replenished where required.
- Health & Safety: Follow all company Health & Safety procedures, RAMS, and safe systems of work.
- Wear and maintain the correct PPE at all times.
- Ensure excavations are carried out safely and adequately supported where required.
- Report hazards, unsafe conditions, near misses, and accidents immediately.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Reporting & Communication: Communicate professionally with Supervisors, Site Managers, Engineers, Coordinators, and clients.
- Report additional works, defects, material requirements, and site issues promptly.
- Complete site records, photographs, job sheets, and digital reports accurately and on time.
- Ensure all allocated work is completed efficiently, safely, and to Environ Property Services' quality standards.

- Fixed Hours with Overtime Options: Work from 8am - 5pm, Monday to Friday, with the opportunity for overtime at enhanced rates.
- Competitive Salary: Β£38,000 β Β£42,000 per annum, with additional earning potential through overtime.
