Job Description

We’re seeking a Lab Pack Chemist who shares our commitment to our people, partners, and planet. Traveling to locations on your assigned route, you will be responsible for packing, transporting, and properly disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and waste material in accordance with our environmentally responsible policies and procedures.

General Purpose:

Consolidate, treat, store, pack, transport, and/or dispose of hazardous waste following environmentally responsible and cost-effective practices and adhering to Clean Earth policies, practices, and procedures. Provide outstanding service to clients and maintain accurate records with attention to detail.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Conduct large and small Lab Pack projects, segregate, pack, transport materials, and complete documentation in compliance with all governmental, customer, and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform on-site testing of unknown materials, adhering to all regulations and guidelines.
  • Provide on-the-job training to Technicians and Operators in equipment operation, service line processes, and documentation.
  • Maintain records for DOT, DEA, and other government entities as assigned. Guide and support team members to perform their duties in accordance with all applicable regulations and policies.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in environmental science, biology, or chemistry.
  • Ability to obtain a CDL B Driver\’s license after hiring (training paid by the company).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, or chemistry.
  • Experience leading or supervising teams.
  • High knowledge of RCRA, OSHA, and DOT regulations related to hazardous waste handling and transportation.
  • Knowledge of DEA regulations concerning controlled pharmaceuticals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Willingness to wear PPE including respirators, eye protection, foot protection, Tyvek coveralls, etc.
  • CDL Class B with HazMat endorsement or willingness to obtain it at company expense.
  • Ability to travel overnight approximately 20% of the time.
  • Effective communication skills in English, verbally and in writing.
