Following an exciting year of growth, including establishing a presence in Bristol, we are seeking an entrepreneurially minded Principal Hydrogeologist/Technical Director to join us at any of our UK offices in Bristol, Shrewsbury, Derby, Richmond, and Stirling. What the role involves
As Principal Hydrogeologist, you will lead and manage a collaborative team, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing expert advice on groundwater management, including abstraction licensing, pollution control, and monitoring
- Ensuring clients can navigate complex regulatory frameworks while sustainably optimising water resources
- Undertaking comprehensive hydrogeological assessments, including water resource, impact, and risk assessments
- Keeping up to date with developments in hydrogeology and related fields, sharing knowledge across the team
- Managing a portfolio of projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships, identifying business opportunities, and tailoring services to meet evolving needs
Qualifications and experience
We are looking for a candidate with:
- A postgraduate degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, or a related discipline, with at least 8 years’ experience
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., Geological Society, CIWEM)
- Excellent technical knowledge of hydrogeology, including groundwater resource assessments, impact assessments, and risk assessments
- Strong project management skills, with experience managing projects from start to finish
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical audiences
- Commercial awareness, with experience identifying and developing business opportunities

The package
Competitive salary of £50,000+, depending on experience. Permanent, full-time contract (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday).
