Initially perform the duties of a Field Service Engineer during the pre-DRS phase, providing technical and operational support to engineers, contractors, partners, and retailers across the region. This includes diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and software issues affecting the company’s RVM product portfolio, providing second-line support, and managing technical escalations to ensure timely resolution and high customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Support the installation, commissioning, and deployment of machines across retail and recycling sites, including assisting with system rollout projects and testing prior to deployment.
- Conduct site surveys and pre-sales technical assessments, advising customers on installation requirements and system configuration.
- Complete RAMS documentation for installation and service activities, ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures.
- Monitor fleet performance and operational data against service level agreements, identifying trends and root causes of faults or downtime.
- Implement performance improvements, updates, and reliability enhancements to optimize machine throughput and operational efficiency.
- Deliver technical training and guidance to field engineers, service partners, and operators.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and training materials to support knowledge sharing across service and engineering teams.
- Assist the Operations Manager with regional service coordination and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, while ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and company quality systems.
Qualifications
- Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics) or equivalent technical experience.
- Strong electro-mechanical background, ideally within retail or automated equipment environments (e.g., PoS, vending machines, ATMs, scales).
- Experience working with Linux-based control systems.
- Previous Health & Safety certification (e.g., IOSH) desirable.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong technical credibility with the ability to support and guide other engineers; previous field service team supervision is an advantage.
- Proficient with standard business software (e.g., Excel, Word, email).
- Highly customer-focused, organized, and able to work to deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- Professional, flexible, and collaborative team player with a strong commitment to safe working practices.
