The Electrical Field Service Engineer will be responsible for the commissioning, maintenance and repair of AC Chargers, Rapid DC, Ultra and High-Power Charging (HPC) EV Chargers across sites in the UK. This role is suited to someone with a strong electrical background who can work independently and deliver high-quality technical support on-site. You will ensure that all EV charging stations operate at peak performance and meet the high standards of our company and clients. This role will require someone who is comfortable working in various environments, including outdoor sites and confined spaces. Occasional travel and overnight stays will be required.
Requirements
- Essential:
- Level 3 Electrical Qualification (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent).
- AM2 certification.
- Minimum 3 years’ proven hands-on experience in commercial or industrial electrical installations or maintenance.
- BS7671 – IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition).
- City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection & Testing.
- Valid JIB Gold Card.
- Experience working under SLA-driven environments.
- Familiarity with test and measurement equipment such as multimeters and voltage testers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and repair technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer interaction.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while travelling between client sites.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Desirable:
- Previous experience in a field service role, preferably in EV charging, renewable energy, or power electronics.
- EV charging station certification or manufacturer-specific training.
- Hands-on experience commissioning, maintaining, or repairing Rapid DC, Ultra and HPC EV chargers.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Understanding of analogue & digital electronics and components.
- Strong awareness of electrical hazards and site H&S requirements.
