This is a remote position. You will conduct ecological surveys, data analysis, and support broader conservation projects.

Job Purpose: As a Consultant Ecologist, you will conduct ecological surveys, data analysis, and support broader conservation projects. You will be supported by Junior Ecologists and will work closely with more senior ecologists to assess habitats, conduct species surveys, and contribute to environmental impact assessments. Your role will be crucial in ensuring compliance with ecological regulations and promoting biodiversity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ecological surveys, including habitat assessments and protected species surveys.
  • Lead in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Support the preparation of ecological impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and best practices.
  • Collaborate with conservation organisations and local authorities.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to research projects.

Requirements:

  • Self-starter, keen to develop professionally and use initiative to find solutions.
  • Takes pride in quality written work.
  • Effective collaborator with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in ecological impact assessment, PEA, BNG and managing survey programs.
  • Protected species licenses or the willingness to pursue one or more, or a specific area of ecological expertise.
  • Experience of or desire to lead survey teams and/or mentor early career ecologists.
  • Experience supporting tendering and preparation of fee proposals.
  • A relevant degree and applied professional experience.
  • Associate or full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or appetite to achieve this.
  • Have a full UK driving license.
