Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Clerk of Works (ECoW) to support a significant construction project as part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to sustainable development and environmental best practice.
As the ECoW, you will play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance throughout the construction phase. You will be responsible for monitoring adherence to the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), with particular attention to requirements concerning breeding birds, protected mammals, and other ecological constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor construction activities to ensure full compliance with the CEMP and environmental legislation.
- Undertake site inspections and audits, providing advice and guidance to the construction team.
- Liaise with project managers, contractors, and environmental specialists to identify and address potential environmental issues.
- Record and report findings, maintaining detailed environmental monitoring logs.
- Support ongoing ecological protection measures and mitigation monitoring.
Requirements
Relevant degree (e.g., Environmental Science, Ecology, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
Proven experience as an Environmental Clerk of Works or similar role within large scale construction.
Strong understanding of ecological and environmental management practices, particularly relating to protected species.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Full UK driving licence.
Available to be on site regularly, particularly during the initial phases of construction.
