Description
We are recruiting for Trade Waste Driver to join our team in Colwick.
In this role, you will operate a variety of LGV vehicles, including both rear and front loaders, to carry out the collection and emptying of bins for our trade waste clients, working independently as a single-person crew.
This is a physically demanding position that requires the ability to work early morning shifts and a readiness to perform duties outdoors throughout the year, in all weather conditions. The role offers an opportunity to work independently while contributing meaningfully to the cleanliness and sustainability of the local environment and community.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace
- Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered
- Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents and incidents in a timely manner to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence
- Complete daily pre-start vehicle inspections and submit to Transport dept
- Report all accidents, vehicle defects, breakdowns
- Ensuring compliance with Duty of Care regulations by inspecting waste and completing waste transfer notes, sheeting all loads to ensure secure transit of waste on the public highway
- The completion of relevant tickets or the use of the handheld device (As appropriate), detailing the necessary information and obtaining a customer signature
- Ensuring skips placed on the road have a road permit, and lights and cones are placed around the skip as detailed in Company procedures
- Ensure that health, safety and welfare standards are maintained in accordance with the Company’s safety policy, Risk Assessments, Safe Working Procedures and Instructions
- Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab
- Advise management of any abnormal situation that cannot be handled
- Assist in the control and co-ordination of work to ensure efficiency and productivity
- Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service Identify and communicate any areas for improvement
- Actively take part in the driver debrief at the end of each shift highlighting any safety issues, vehicle defects and recommending route and customer improvements.
This is not an exhaustive list. You may also be required to carry out any other duties as required by the business that you are qualified/trained in that meet the scope, spirit and purpose of this role.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- HGV driving licence.
- Previous experience of waste collection vehicles
- Experience of vehicle maintenance
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
- Professional and organised approach.
- Good time management / ability to work under pressure.
