The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of the safety management culture for Enva. This role can be based in Portlaoise or Greenogue with travel required to other sites. This role is an opportunity for an experienced safety professional to develop & implement a Safety programme in a dynamic, multi-site environment and to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that operational activities are compliant with relevant legal and good practice requirements.
- Develop, implement and maintain the safety management systems (e.g. OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001) in accordance with the standards.
- Work with management and other stakeholders to ensure the maintenance of other management systems and accreditations integral to the organisation.
- Carry out appropriate risk assessments for activities and identify possible alternative methods of assessment to effectively assess the level of risk.
- Assist the organisation in prioritising risk to ensure that control measures are appropriate to the risk and scale of operation.
- Ensure that the appropriate and timely level of incident and accident investigation is conducted throughout the activities for all incidents and accidents which occur.
- Develop and build relationships across the organisation to foster a positive safety culture while supporting productivity and success.
- Develop, review and interpret monitoring data which will drive change and improvements in safety performance.
- Evaluate methods and ways of working to support the continual evolution of safety practices in terms of business integration, efficiency and performance.
- Build relationships across all stakeholders within the business e.g. line managers/supervisors/safety representatives etc. to influence and impact on safety practices.
- Work with Group HSE & local management to set out clear goals and plans for your business which will deliver safer practices and better performance.
- Act as an ambassador for safety and build an indirect leadership style among peers and other relevant stakeholders to ensure strong safety leadership.
- Manage change across the business due to external factors or internal needs.
- Operate and maintain a robust system of checks, inspections and audits which provide verification of the effectiveness of operational controls.
- Monitor results and ensure quality and delivery are achieved as planned, providing opportunities for continuous improvement in service delivery across the business.
- Develop effective two-way communications to drive home Key HSE actions.
- Interact with personnel at all levels of the organisation in a constructive, positive manner, being a trusted advisor and listener.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree in Health and Safety / Environmental or equivalent essential.
- Some years of managerial experience with responsibility for Safety & Compliance in an Industrial/Manufacturing environment.
- High level of IT literacy and competence, particularly understanding application workflows and data systems.
- An energetic, progressive, can-do attitude with proven capabilities.
- Experience in or a good knowledge of Health, Safety Environmental and Quality management systems.
- Strong report (and procedure) writing skills.
- Flexible approach and attitude to work with the ability to prioritise workload and respond to changing situations.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to work with personnel at all levels of the organisation.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Full Driving licence.
- Willingness to travel to all sites and occasionally travel internationally.
