Overview
The ideal candidate will be at the forefront of plastics engineering and innovation. This role combines hands-on involvement in developing and improving plastic manufacturing processes with ensuring the highest standards of quality across Bourne Plastics’ two sites. You will play a key part in shaping how our products are designed, produced, and continuously improved, while also supporting compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and lead process studies to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Support product development projects to deliver new plastics materials and solutions to market.
- Work with operations teams to investigate and resolve quality issues.
- Issue production instructions and ensure compliance with quality processes.
- Lead structured problem-solving activities (e.g., 8D methodology) for internal and external complaints.
- Analyse raw material inputs and finished product outputs, producing clear reports and recommendations.
- Maintain and update documentation within the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
- Report on quality KPIs across both sites.
- Support compliance by coordinating sampling, logging results, and preparing performance summaries.
- Conduct internal audits in line with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

- Full-time role based in Bourne
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Competitive Salary (depending on experience) plus support for further education and professional development
- Work environment is predominantly in a warehouse or processing facility.
- Regular exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential:
- Qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Science (HNC/Degree level) OR demonstrable competence in a relevant quality/engineering role.
- Understanding of quality management systems (ISO 9001:2015 preferred).
- Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies and quality tools (e.g., 8D, root cause analysis, data analysis).
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Effective communication and teamworking ability.
Desirable:
- Experience in a quality role within plastics, manufacturing, or related industries.
- Experience supporting product development.
- Previous auditing experience.
- Awareness of regulatory requirements for plastics manufacturing.
