Lead the day‑to‑day operation of the Perth fridge/WEEE recycling plant to deliver safe, compliant, efficient and cost‑effective production. Partner closely with the Operations team on throughput, quality and service, and with the Maintenance Manager on asset care, planned maintenance and breakdown response to minimise downtime and optimise performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership
- Own the safe, effective running of the plant across shifts, ensuring the plant is set up, monitored and producing to agreed specifications and volumes.
- Plan daily/weekly production with the Operations team; balance throughput, quality and resource to meet targets.
- Ensure accurate, timely operational records, shift reports and weighbridge/throughput documentation as required.
- Prioritise corrective actions; and jointly manage breakdowns to reduce MTTR and improve MTBF.
- Escalate critical issues promptly and coordinate safe isolation/permit controls for maintenance interventions.
- Lead risk assessments, plant inspections and safety conversations.
- Drive best practice in housekeeping, traffic management and PPE use; promote proactive reporting (near‑miss/GO) and close‑out.
- Safeguard WEEE treatment compliance and recycling quality standards across processes.
- People Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop plant operators/supervisors; ensure adequate, competent staffing and effective shift handovers.
- Conduct PDRs, manage performance, and build an inclusive, accountable, high‑performing culture.
- Performance, Cost
- Analyse losses and implement CI actions.
- Identify waste, bottlenecks and quality issues; deliver CI projects that improve reliability, efficiency and environmental impact.
- External
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making; competent with operational reporting.
Desirable Experience
- Leading multi‑shift teams and coordinating contractors/agency labour.
- Exposure to CI/lean tools (e.g., RCA, 5S, Kaizen) and KPI dashboards.
Job Requirements
- Full‑time role based in Perth. 45 hours. Monday to Friday (Weekends may be required from time to time to support operational requirements).
- Work environment is predominantly in a warehouse or processing facility.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn.
