Enva Recycling Scotland is hiring a Health and Safety Advisor to join the Linwood depot on a permanent basis. Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm.

In this role, you will help managers and teams understand risk, improve controls and maintain strong compliance with UK health and safety legislation, company standards and recognised management systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide competent, practical and solution-focused health and safety advice to operational managers, supervisors and employees across multiple Scottish depots and associated customer sites.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews, ensuring actions are clearly recorded, owned, tracked and closed out.
  • Advise on risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work, contractor controls, permit-to-work arrangements and high-risk activities.
  • Coach, influence and constructively challenge colleagues so Safety First is reflected in day-to-day decisions.
  • Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Enva’s health and safety management system, including documentation aligned to ISO 45001 and relevant integrated management standards.
  • Support regulatory, customer, insurance and certification audits, including preparation, evidence gathering, follow-up actions and lessons learned.
  • Monitor health and safety performance data, identify trends and produce clear recommendations for managers and senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records, action trackers and evidence so that health and safety activity is reliable and audit-ready.
  • Lead and support investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, applying root cause analysis and ensuring actions are implemented.
  • Develop and deliver inductions, toolbox talks, briefings and targeted training that engage operational teams.
  • Track improvement actions from audits, inspections, incidents and performance reviews so ownership, timescales and progress are clear.

This is not an exhaustive list. The role holder may be required to carry out any other duties as required by the business that they are qualified/trained in that meet the requirements of this role.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, risk assessments, incident investigations and action close-out reviews.
  • Knowledge of UK H&S legislation.
  • Hold NEBOSH General certificate in Occupational H&S, or equivalent.
  • Technical membership of IOSH.
  • Hold a UK driving licence.
  • Proven experience conducting inspections, audits, risk assessments, incident investigations and action close-out reviews.
  • Good understanding of ISO 45001, with awareness of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 in an integrated management system environment.
