We are looking for an Incinerator Engineer/operator to join our dynamic team in Grantham. In this role, you will be responsible for the full operation and preparing the incinerator for maintenance.

You will help carry out both reactive and planned preventive maintenance, ensuring maximum uptime, environmental compliance, and safe operation of critical plant and equipment. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives in a hands‑on, production‑driven environment and enjoys technical problem-solving in a fast‑moving industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • General Maintenance Duties
  • Stable combustion and process conditions are established and maintained.
  • The plant is fully prepared for safe, autonomous overnight running.
  • Engineers can safely access the plant during planned and reactive maintenance.
  • All incoming gases are received, stored, tracked, and managed correctly.
  • Sufficient feedstock, consumables, and critical spares are always available.
  • Environmental permit conditions.
  • Work as part of a cohesive team, adopting a flexible, first-time-right approach.
  • GERI (Fridge Degassing): Isolate gas feeds and fuel lines; Confirm safe temperature conditions; Gas test where required; Provide formal handover confirmation.
  • Unplanned Downtime: Stabilize the plant; Prevent escalation of unsafe conditions; Safely isolate affected systems; Maintain safe conditions until engineering intervention; Support root cause identification.
  • Environmental recycling/WEEE experience desirable.
  • Flexible, team-oriented attitude with the ability to support additional tasks or shifts when required.
  • Understanding of continuous improvement and new working methods.
  • Willingness to cover alternative shifts when needed.

Job Requirements

  • Full-time role based in Grantham.
  • Competitive Salary.
  • Monday to Friday 45 hours per week.
  • Regular exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn.
