We're hiring an Operative for our Linwood recycling centre. The purpose of the role is to ensure the safe and efficient day to day operation of the MRF (Materials Recycling Facility) plant under the direction of the Operations Manager and shift supervisor. The work involves manually sorting through various waste materials on the process line along with hygiene duties and some basic general maintenance. Responsible for ensuring relevant waste is separated per its stream and that all recyclable elements are recovered.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the recycling plant operations are managed in line with Health and Safety legislation and Enva standards.
- Ensure all duties (recycling, inspections and cleaning) are carried out and recorded as per company and manufacturers instructions and procedures.
- Assist in the day to day operations of the plant in accordance with site licence and contractual conditions.
- Sort and separate waste types to ensure plant performance is at its highest.
- Training will be given on specialised plant.
- Maintaining the highest cleanliness of all working areas.
- Ensuring that the machines are maintained in a clean condition.
- Any defect affecting the safe working order of a machine to be reported immediately.
- Ensuring that the correct Personal Protective Equipment, as provided by the Company, is worn at all times.
- The correct PPE must be worn at all times when handling waste materials.
- Remaining aware, at all times, of your responsibilities for your own Health and Safety and for the Health and Safety of your work colleagues.
- Carrying out other tasks within your operational ability or for which you have received appropriate training, as and when required.
- Ensuring compliance with all company work practices as directed.
- Operating mobile plant and other plant equipment safely and competently where trained, instructed and qualified to do so.
- Assisting with the general operations as required and instructed.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience working in a regulated environment and in a Recycling facility.
- Ability to operate vehicles and machinery in a safe manner.
- Drivers Licence, CSCS, Mobile Plant Licence is desirable.
