Enva is seeking a proactive and skilled Engineering Technician to join our Leicester Engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and repairing shredders, conveyors, rotating plant, and site infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This is a hands-on role involving both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support across our recycling and resource recovery facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance on shredders, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and associated plant equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and perform repairs to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with maintenance schedules.
  • Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacements.
  • Accurately record maintenance activities and report equipment defects or emerging issues.
  • Support plant shutdowns, refurbishments, and improvement projects.
  • Work safely in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures, permit systems, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within workshops and operational areas.
  • Travel to other Leicester sites as required to support engineering activities.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Recognised Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification or completed apprenticeship.
  • Experience maintaining industrial machinery, conveyors, shredders, or rotating plant.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of planned preventative maintenance principles.
  • Knowledge of safe isolation procedures and maintenance best practices.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Experience working within recycling, waste, manufacturing, or process industries.
  • Knowledge of PUWER and LOLER requirements.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Welding, fabrication, or additional engineering qualifications.
