This includes inspecting wood loads, managing documentation, and maintaining site safety protocols.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team, playing a vital role in the efficient and sustainable processing of wood waste.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all vehicles entering and exiting the site, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Provide clear and concise instructions to drivers, maintaining the orderly flow of traffic on-site.
  • Safely guide vehicles to the appropriate tipping or loading areas, taking into account site logistics and health & safety protocols.
  • Address any logistical challenges or delays by coordinating with team members and escalating issues when necessary.

Load Inspection

  • Conduct thorough inspections of all incoming wood loads to determine their compliance with grading specifications and customer contracts.
  • Identify and segregate non-compliant materials or contaminants, ensuring only acceptable wood grades are processed.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to address contaminated or improperly sorted loads, including taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Utilise grading standards and tools provided during inspections, ensuring consistency and accuracy in assessments.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Accurately record details of all vehicles and their respective loads, maintaining a clear and organised log for operational tracking.
  • Highlight wood grades and any relevant notes, ensuring these are communicated promptly to relevant teams such as customer services and operations.
  • Compile and submit daily and weekly reports summarising inspection results, contamination rates, and any recurring issues.
  • Report any discrepancies or repeated non-compliance issues to management for further investigation and action.

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Maintain strict adherence to all health and safety protocols, ensuring personal and team safety on-site.
  • Identify and address potential hazards, escalating safety concerns to the appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Participate in site safety drills, inspections, and training sessions to ensure up-to-date knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Proactively contribute to a culture of safety by leading by example and encouraging colleagues to follow best practices.

Customer and Team Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between the operations team and customer service representatives, ensuring seamless communication regarding load compliance and any issues.
  • Provide clear and timely feedback to drivers and customers regarding rejected loads, ensuring they understand the reasoning and corrective actions required.
  • Work closely with team members to coordinate efforts, particularly during peak periods or when handling complex situations.
  • Foster positive working relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring a collaborative and supportive environment.

Site Maintenance and Efficiency

  • Actively contribute to maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient worksite.
  • Assist in monitoring and optimising site workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and suggesting improvements.
  • Ensure that forklifts and other equipment are operated safely and maintained according to company guidelines, reporting any malfunctions or required repairs.

Continuous Improvement and Training

  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to improve inspection techniques, safety practices, and operational efficiency.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, regulations, and company policies to perform duties to the highest standard.
