To provide administrative and operational support to the waste yard team, ensuring smooth running of daily activities including skip movements, waste documentation, compliance records, and coordination with suppliers and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of waste skips, IBCs, drums, and containers.
- Book and track skip exchanges with suppliers and ensure timely collections/deliveries.
- Prepare and maintain waste transfer notes, consignment notes, and compliance paperwork.
- Support yard supervisor with scheduling and tracking waste movements.
- Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Keep filing systems, spreadsheets, and databases up to date.
- Coordinate PPE records, training logs, and permit-to-work documentation.
- Provide general admin support: photocopying, filing, scanning, and correspondence.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Good communication and ability to liaise with internal/external stakeholders.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of waste management procedures (preferred but not essential).
- Attention to detail with compliance and reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in an administrative role (preferably in waste/recycling, logistics, or operations).
- Familiarity with waste management legislation and documentation is desirable.
- GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths.
