Position Overview: The purpose of this job is to lead a small team producing high quality, technical, customer-facing documentation, working in the Entrust Data Protection Solutions Engineering team in Cambridge. You'll agree the vision and roadmap for documentation with key stakeholders and own the information architecture of the document content. You'll encourage contributions from a range of other stakeholders and maintain a shared ownership, "docs as code" culture. You'll also work as a technical author yourself. You'll work closely with agile product development teams who are based in the UK and the US, alongside colleagues and stakeholders in other functions, notably Product Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Work within an Agile (SAFe) product development framework, representing your team at ceremonies.
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Bring key stakeholders together regularly, and agree a vision and roadmap for Technical Writing.
  • Own and continuously improve the information architecture of the content in the document set.
  • Own and continuously improve the quality of the content within the document set.
  • Manage the priorities, tasks and deliverables of the Technical Writing Team.
  • Encourage high quality technical document contributions from colleagues across the organization.
  • Edit and improve content contributions from colleagues where needed.
  • Ensure that documentation releases are accurately aligned with product releases.
  • Create clear, jargon-free content for customers installing, using, and customizing our products.
  • Encourage, prioritize and action feedback from customers and from Customer Support.
  • Work with DevOps to maintain and further develop the "Docs as code" tooling platform.
  • Own technical writing processes, guidelines and delivery platforms.
  • Leverage AI to increase efficiency and productivity within the technical writing workflow.
  • Support other teams in the delivery of compliance and certification documentation.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 - 10 years technical writing experience, preferably in a technical context.
  • Experience with Jira, Git and "Docs as code" practices and tools.
  • Experience with AsciiDoc or Markdown.
  • Experience managing tasks for a writing team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Familiarity with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) in an agile software development environment.
  • Knowledge of security software and hardware products.
  • Experience of CLI, scripting, and creating API and SDK documentation.
  • Experience of people management and supporting creation of an annual budget.
