A global contract research and manufacturing organisation operating within the animal health and pharmaceutical sector is looking to appoint a Procurement Specialist to support its growing operations in Dundee. The business partners with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to develop and manufacture health products for pets and livestock, supporting projects from early discovery through to commercial manufacturing. With a strong international footprint and a reputation for high-quality GMP manufacturing, they are continuing to expand their capabilities and supply chain infrastructure.
As part of this growth, they are seeking an experienced procurement professional to take ownership of sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and cost optimisation across both direct materials and indirect services.
The Role
Reporting into the Global Head of Procurement, this position plays a key role in managing supplier relationships and driving procurement strategy to support site manufacturing operations and wider global initiatives. This is not a transactional buying role – it is a commercially focused procurement position responsible for delivering value through supplier negotiation, sourcing strategy and supply chain risk mitigation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing supplier relationships across direct materials, consumables, services and indirect spend
- Negotiating commercial terms, pricing and supply agreements with key suppliers
- Supporting global procurement initiatives to standardise suppliers and reduce cost
- Driving procurement activities to ensure on-time delivery aligned with manufacturing plans
- Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks, including qualifying alternative suppliers
- Supporting material change controls, CAPAs and supplier performance reviews
- Leading supplier KPI monitoring and regular supplier review meetings
- Contributing to inventory policy, safety stock and lead time optimisation
- Supporting customer pricing reviews and procurement cost management
- Maintaining awareness of market trends, supplier technologies and sourcing opportunities
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Procurement Specialist role
- Strong experience across direct materials and indirect spend categories
- Proven negotiation and supplier relationship management skills
- Experience working with global suppliers
- Knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with teams including Supply Chain, Finance, Quality and Operations
Desirable:
- Experience sourcing APIs, excipients, chemicals or packaging materials
- Experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, CDMO or regulated manufacturing
- Exposure to procurement technologies such as eSourcing or Source-to-Pay systems
- Working towards or interested in CIPS qualification
