We are looking for an experienced Data Cabling Engineer to join our growing team in Bedford and play a key role in supporting the delivery of a range of building infrastructure projects. At Entrust IT, we deliver innovative structured cabling, electrical, WiFi, CCTV and access control systems. Our Projects team manages a wide range of installations and upgrades, and we are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys keeping projects running smoothly.

As a Data Cabling Engineer, you will be an integral part in contributing towards our ongoing success and prized reputation. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for a new challenge, who can demonstrate their skills within a forward-thinking and diverse organisation. As part of a team, you will contribute to the success of ensuring projects run smoothly from start to finish; and are completed on schedule, within budget, and to customer satisfaction. You should be a team player with strong communication skills and an eagerness to learn new skills. If you have experience leading a small crew to ensure safe working and good quality, then that’s an advantage.

Key Responsibilities of the Data Cabling Engineer:

  • Carry out a range of infrastructure works in a variety of environments within a team.
  • Install a variety of structured cabling solutions including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Fibre Optic, Blown Fibre and Voice and panel patching.
  • Fault finding, testing and termination using DSX and/or DTX.
  • Fibre cutting and splicing; including pig tails, hot and cold cure termination, fluke testing.
  • Containment installation including trunking, conduit, tray and basket work.
  • Become conversant with all aspects of infrastructure installation works; and achieve and maintain any necessary qualifications.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven experience as a Data Cabling Engineer (structured cabling) or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Self-motivation, able to work as part of a team.
  • Organised, with attention to detail.
  • Able to take instructions and a desire to learn new skills.
  • Flexible working attitude.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Full/Clean UK Driving Licence.
  • GCSE Grade A* to C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • SSSTS Card (or equivalent).
  • ECS Card or equivalent (or able to obtain one successfully).
  • DBS Checked (Enhanced) (or able to complete one successfully).

Desirable:

  • Experience in Fibre Optic Splicing, Termination and Testing.
  • IPAF Licence.
  • PASMA Licence.
  • Experience in crew supervision and toolbox talks is valued.
