Purpose of the role To support safe, high-quality delivery of adventure day activities and in-school mentoring for primary and secondary pupils across Staffordshire, helping young people build confidence, teamwork and positive behaviour. You will embody Entrust's outdoor learning ethos and safeguarding standards.
Key responsibilities
- Session delivery: Assist instructors to run adventure day activities (e.g., team challenges, bushcraft, high energy games), ensuring safety, inclusion and clear learning outcomes.
- Mentoring in schools: Deliver short sessions (with provided frameworks) for small groups/1:1, focusing on engagement, routines, wellbeing and aspirations.
- Safeguarding & welfare: Follow KCSIE aligned procedures; act on concerns promptly; contribute to creating safe, supportive environments.
- Preparation & logistics: Help with setup/packdown, kit checks, basic admin (consents, registers, reflections), and venue moves.
- Quality & evaluation: Capture outcomes/feedback; reflect on practice for continuous improvement; uphold Entrust operating procedures.
Person specification
- Experience working with children/young people (school, youth work, coaching, outdoor education or similar).
- Confident facilitator; calm, professional and child-centred.
- Full UK driving licence & access to a vehicle; able to travel across Staffordshire.
- Enhanced DBS (child workforce) and reference checks (or willingness to obtain).
- Flexible availability (some evenings/weekends during peak delivery).
- Outdoor activity skills/awards or strong personal participation in the outdoors.
- First Aid (EFAW/FAW).
- Mentoring/youth work training or lived experience supporting young people.
Terms
- Pay: TBC – hourly rate.
- Base/Travel: Staffordshire sites (e.g., Standon Bowers/Laches Wood) and partner schools; mileage in line with policy.
- Pre-employment: Enhanced DBS, right to work and satisfactory references.
