About EF
Entrepreneurs First invests in exceptional individuals to build startups from scratch. We exist to amplify ambition, alter career trajectories, and shape the future. We find exceptional talent, to form exceptional teams, to build exceptional companies. We’ve backed thousands of founders at the earliest stage, creating >$15B in value. Examples include GenZ fintech Cleo AI, encrypted blockchain protocol Aztec, and diamond marketplace Nivoda. EF has pioneered global Talent Investing since 2014 and is backed by some of the world's leading founders and investors including Patrick and John Collison (Stripe), Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn), and Demis Hassabis (Google Deepmind).
The role
Talent Investors (TIs) at EF are tasked with finding the next generation of world changers; EF’s Tools and Data are instrumental in helping them achieve that. We’ve been doing this for 15+ years and it will be your goal to ensure that the products and tools the team uses leverage EF’s expertise and differentiate our investors from any other investor in the world. At EF we use a combination of off-the-shelf software as well as custom-built tools so this role would be perfect for someone who is interested in procuring and implementing software as well as building their own.
This role is an ideal learning opportunity if you are:
- a couple of years into a product managing or software engineering career in the midst of a career‑change to the above roles
- considering starting your own tech startup in the future
This role is for you if...
- You want to build products that delight and put them in the hands of users (the EF team) quickly
- You love to understand what makes people want to use products and adopt them in their daily workflows
- You like tinkering with automations that save time and make life easier
- You get energy from talking to users and understanding their problems
- You enjoy onboarding them to new tools and know how to communicate “how-to”s effectively
- You want to move fast but also know how to keep things secure and stable
- You’re excited to use AI to build new tools and your Product skills to make them stick
- You enjoy working with data and understand the importance of surfacing insights to the rest of the team
Who this role is not for
- You want routine and structured weekly tasks: our goal is to help Talent Investors find the best talent, but how we achieve that goal will change frequently as quite often the solution can be non‑obvious. You will most likely be working on something different every week.
- You don’t like having meetings: whilst a huge part of the role is technical and requires deep focus work, a big element of the job will be to manage non‑technical stakeholders and learn what’s working/what’s not working directly from our customers.
- You want to work fully remotely: this job requires you to be in our East London office around 2‑3 days a week, this is because our customers (the EF team) are in the office conducting in‑person meetings with Founders.
- You have very little technical ability: the role requires ownership of technical products, so a fundamental understanding of software development will be essential.
Job Requirements
- An interest in building custom software/apps (with the aid of AI)
- Experience working with data and data infrastructure tools (e.g. BigQuery, dbt, Boomi etc.)
- Used CRMs before (e.g. Attio, Salesforce, Airtable etc.)
- Experience with (or is willing to upskill in) data viz tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau etc.)
- Experience building automations, processes and products from scratch (e.g. Make, Zapier, n8n etc.)
- A customer‑centric approach to work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to thrive in ambiguity and find non‑obvious solutions
What You’ll Get
- Salary: ÂŁ55,000 - ÂŁ70,000 dependent on experience + performance bonus
- Ownership: The chance to shape and grow this role, progressing fast based on your ambition rather than length of tenure
- Vibrant Workspace: A buzzing East London office filled with ambitious minds solving world‑changing problems.
- Other perks: Attractive salary with performance‑based incentives. Generous vacation allowance, including a two‑week global office closure over the end‑of‑year period. A Learning & Development allowance to purchase any product or service that will contribute to your personal or professional development. Enhanced parental leave, plus broader leave policies. We care about our team and enabling the right balance between home and working life.
The hiring process
- Initial call with the hiring manager (30 mins)
- Live task round to complete together with the Head of Tech & Data (60 mins)
- Meet the team at the office. Here you will have chats with a peer, the Head of People and the London General Manager (60 mins)
