Are you an experienced Buyer looking for a role where you can genuinely influence commercial performance, supplier relationships and the way a growing business buys?
We’re working with an established and growing private‑label consumer products business that partners with brands to source high‑quality products, raw materials and packaging. Due to continued growth, they’re looking for an experienced Buyer to join their Procurement team and play an important role in delivering the right products, at the right cost, quality and lead time.
This isn’t simply a PO‑raising role. You’ll be trusted to analyse data, challenge suppliers, identify opportunities and make recommendations that have a tangible commercial impact on the business.
The Role
Working closely with the Procurement Manager, you’ll take responsibility for a broad range of buying and supplier‑management activities, whilst partnering with teams across NPD, Operations and the wider business.
You’ll be involved in:
- Managing RFQs and tenders across manufacturing, raw materials and packaging
- Supporting costing exercises and assessing pricing, MOQs, specifications, lead times and supply risk
- Negotiating with suppliers across price, payment terms, MOQs and lead times
- Benchmarking suppliers and pricing against the wider market
- Monitoring commodity, raw material, packaging, freight and exchange‑rate trends
- Identifying opportunities for cost savings, alternative sourcing and supplier consolidation
- Managing and analysing supplier performance and procurement KPIs
- Producing spend, savings and performance reports
- Maintaining accurate supplier, pricing, material and lead‑time data within the ERP system
- Supporting supplier onboarding and approval processes
- Working closely with NPD from initial product brief through to first order
- Building strong relationships with both suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Supporting wider procurement process improvements and best practice
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Buyer or Category Buyer who is commercially minded, analytical and confident dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
You’ll ideally have:
- 3+ years' experience in a Buyer or Category Buyer position
- Experience within the food industry
- Strong commercial and numerical skills with the ability to analyse data and identify opportunities
- Experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating commercially
- A strong understanding of pricing, lead times, MOQs and supplier performance
- Excellent attention to detail and the confidence to challenge and question information
- Experience working with procurement KPIs, spend analysis and/or cost‑saving initiatives
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast‑paced environment
- A proactive, solutions‑focused approach rather than simply following process
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to join a growing business where procurement is genuinely valued as a commercial function.
You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders, influence supplier strategy, contribute to cost‑saving initiatives and have a visible impact across the wider business.
If you’re looking for a Buyer role where you can analyse, challenge, negotiate and make a difference, this could be an excellent next step.
