Join one of the world’s largest machine tool manufacturers, a global business with 300 people based at the Southampton site. This role sits within a tight-knit test team of 10, part of a broader 65-person product development group, including Optical, Mechanical, Electronic, Software, Product, and Component Engineers.
You’ll focus on developing and supporting automated test systems, used on the production line to verify high-precision equipment. These systems are built around switches, motors, and power supplies along with VB.NET and LabVIEW on the software side. This is an excellent chance to join a highly established team with many senior members to learn from and develop your skills!
Responsibilities:- Developing and maintaining automated test systems (VB.NET / LabVIEW-based)
- Supporting production test stations across three key product lines
- Fault-finding to component level
- Working with switches, motors, and power supplies
- Collaborating with technicians, hardware engineers, and senior team members
- Investigating and resolving test bugs and production issues quickly
- 3–5 years’ experience minimum in test development or production test environments
- Strong VB.NET skills (LabVIEW a bonus)
- Ability to work with both analogue and digital electronics
- Comfortable with fault-finding, oscilloscopes, and basic electrical hardware
- Ideally from a manufacturing / industrial background, but open to others
- Team-oriented but capable of independent problem solving
- Experience with automated test equipment preferred
