A growing business in smart building and lighting control technology is looking for a senior, hands-on technical professional to be its senior technical reference point and lead problem-solver. This is not a design role, and it isn't a desk-bound management one. It's for someone who still loves getting into the detail – wiring up third-party equipment, running and analysing logs, diagnosing faults, and writing the report that settles the question. When something misbehaves, or a third-party system won't play nicely with everything around it, this is the person who works out exactly why. Alongside that, they'll lead and mentor a small technical team and lend their expertise to the wider workshop.
What they'll do:
- Act as the senior technical point of reference for complex issues across products and projects
- Diagnose compatibility and performance problems, then evidence the findings in clear technical reports
- Oversee EMC testing and ensure compliance work is done properly
- Lead and mentor a small team of engineers and technicians
- Work hands-on across analogue and digital circuitry and low-level comms (RS232 / RS485)
What they're looking for:
- A strong electrical and electronic engineering background with the qualifications to match
- Deep, practical experience in electronic product manufacturing and fault-finding
- A solid grasp of EMC testing and compliance
- Someone who leads through expertise – engineering skill first, people skills close behind
- Experience with lighting controls (DALI, LED colour control, light sources) is a real plus, but it can be learnt by the right person
This is a five-days-on-site role for someone within a comfortable commute who wants to join an industry that's growing fast.
