You may be an EMC engineer who has spent years focused on hands-on testing but now you're ready to step into a more consultative role, where your expertise shapes decisions rather than just validates them. You will move beyond day-to-day testing and into a position where you influence strategy, guide design, and solve complex engineering challenges at a systems level. You will work on programmes that sit at the intersection of innovation and regulation, ensuring systems perform not just in ideal conditions, but in the real world, under pressure and scrutiny.

You will join a consultancy known for tackling some of the most demanding engineering challenges across defence, transport and energy. Your work will influence outcomes that genuinely matter, from national infrastructure to next-generation technologies. You will have the flexibility to be based from a number of UK sites, working in a hybrid model that combines time in the office, on client sites and from home.

This role moves you away from a narrow technical focus. You will operate as a true consultant, advising, shaping and delivering across the full project lifecycle. One day you could be defining EMC strategy for a new platform, the next supporting design teams or reviewing compliance and risk. You will bring clarity to complexity, translating regulations into practical engineering decisions and guiding stakeholders through critical processes. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your career in the direction that suits you, whether that’s technical leadership, consultancy or mentoring others.

What you will be doing

You will be involved in defining EMC test and validation strategies, supporting design teams with control plans and test approaches, and contributing to risk assessments across complex systems. You will also review documentation, support audits and play a broader role in delivering consultancy across a range of industries.

What you will bring
  • Experience in a regulated industry such as defence, aerospace, automotive or medical
  • A strong grounding in electromagnetic theory and its practical application
  • Understanding of EMC compliance frameworks and regulations (DEF STAN, JSP or UKCA)
  • The ability to translate standards into real engineering solutions
  • Experience developing EMC strategies, plans or design-level solutions
The opportunity

You can expect an excellent base salary, alongside flexible hybrid working across multiple UK locations including Bristol, Burton and Glasgow. The role offers exposure to complex, safety-critical projects and a clear route for professional development.
