As Product Manager for Datalinks, you will lead the strategic development and execution of our datalink portfolio—supporting airborne ISR, law enforcement, and military‐grade applications. This role is central to SPX Communication Technologies' growth strategy, driving innovation in secure, low‐latency communications across harsh and crowded spectrum environments.

You will collaborate across Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Compliance, leveraging the SPX Business System to deliver scalable solutions and measurable results. Your leadership will help shape the future of tactical connectivity and secure communications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in Datalink technologies, including COFDM‐based RF systems for video, data, and voice over IP.
  • Manage product vision and strategy for airborne and ground‐based communications, maximizing CONOPS flexibility through modular configurations and aligning with the company's broader goals.
  • Help build an airborne managed service that can generate a new recurring revenue stream for the Datalinks Business Unit.
  • Align with other relevant and applicable companies within the SPX Communication Technologies division to align technology share to leverage growth (KTS).
  • Work with customer experience and analytics to architect reporting dashboards to support program deployment, sales execution, and customer adoption.
  • Identify and lead on the implementation of AI technology for the Datalinks Business Unit – forming the product development and relationships to bring this to market.
  • Set pricing strategies and position new/existing products.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including defense integrators, law enforcement agencies, and strategic suppliers.
  • Represent SPX Communication Technologies at industry events and customer briefings, articulating product value and roadmap.
  • Conduct market & competitive analysis, product gap assessments, and voice‐of‐customer research to guide roadmap decisions and prioritize investment areas that maximize value.
  • Oversee product lifecycle management from concept through launch and sustainment.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Compliance to ensure product specifications meet technical and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor field performance and recommend enhancements based on operational data and customer feedback.
  • Lead the Datalinks team to review current state processes and procedures (Front End Process, SIOP Process, Sales Quotation Process), identify areas for improvement, and execute necessary transitions.
  • Partner with Engineering, Marketing, Sales and Support teams to bridge gaps and ensure alignment toward product and roadmap goals.
  • Partner with Marketing and Sales to develop compelling messaging and sales enablement tools as part of the New Product Development (NPD) process.
  • Support creation of technical documentation and training materials for pre‐sales and post‐sales support.
  • Analyze customer requirements, provide technical solutions and related documentation to assist business development staff in the sale of company products and systems.
  • Respond to customer inquiries concerning system features and applications; refer as necessary to appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare technical content for proposals and support creation of system block diagrams and top‐level BOMs.
  • Coordinate with external training partners to deliver product education through digital platforms and in‐person sessions (ECS Academy).
  • Take a lead on the End‐of‐Life (EOL) process for Datalinks products.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in product management, market development, or channel strategy for communications or defense technologies.
  • Experience in tactical communications, RF systems, or secure data transmission preferred.
  • Familiarity with B2B and government contracting environments.
  • Proven ability to manage product lifecycle and develop business cases.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Successful track record of launching new products and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Strong technical product knowledge to make informed decisions and communicate effectively with technical teams.
  • Experience working with defense contractors, integrators, and regulatory bodies.
  • Strong cross‐functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, including confident and persuasive presentation to senior leadership and key customers.
  • Experience defining key performance indicators (KPIs), tracking product metrics, and using data to drive improvements.
  • Analytical mindset; strong data interpretation skills for informed decision‐making and measurement of success.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • UK Citizen.
  • Security Clearance is required.

Travel & Working Environment

This role requires significant collaboration across multiple departments; a hybrid working arrangement will be required. Must be able to travel up to 25% for customer visits, industry events, and internal collaboration.
