IT Manager

Are you an experienced, hands‑on IT professional looking to make a real impact in a highly respected engineering business? Enterprise Control Systems (ECS), part of SPX Technologies, is looking for an IT Manager to lead and support day‑to‑day IT operations at our Wappenham site, while working closely with the wider SPX Enterprise IT function.

This is a broad, practical IT Manager role where you’ll be trusted to keep the business running smoothly, support secure systems handling sensitive data, and act as the key IT point of contact for ECS.

The role

As IT Manager for ECS, you will play a vital role in ensuring reliable, secure, and effective IT services for the business. You’ll support local users directly, manage third‑party suppliers, and act as the bridge between ECS and the central SPX IT teams.

In addition to general IT management, this role includes responsibility for systems that process sensitive UK data, including ERP applications and secure infrastructure. You’ll also help ensure compliance with recognised security standards and certifications.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing and supporting day‑to‑day IT needs across the ECS site
• Providing hands‑on support for laptops, desktops, servers, networks, printers, phones, and PC refreshes
• Supporting and coordinating functional and technical support for ECS systems, including the ERP system
• Acting as the local IT lead, engaging with central network and desktop teams
• Managing suppliers and service partners to ensure agreed service levels are met
• Maintaining IT assets, renewals, and budgeted resources
• Supporting secure and segregated systems handling sensitive data
• Helping maintain compliance with standards such as Cyber Essentials Plus and PCI
• Assisting with testing, training, and change management activities
• Maintaining documentation and a service knowledge base to improve resolution times
• Providing regional IT support to other SPX businesses when capacity allows

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone practical, adaptable, and service‑focused, who enjoys understanding business needs and translating them into effective IT solutions. You’ll be comfortable juggling priorities, troubleshooting issues, and working in a changing environment.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Strong experience across general IT support and infrastructure
• A clear understanding of data security and secure systems
• The ability to analyse problems and recommend practical solutions
• Confidence working with users, suppliers, and central IT teams
• A proactive, calm approach when dealing with competing deadlines

Skills and experience

• Experience supporting users across a broad range of IT needs
• General ERP experience (Syspro highly desirable)
• Experience or exposure to Cyber Essentials Plus and/or PCI compliance
• Experience managing secure networks (not necessarily defence – banking, insurance or similar environments welcome)

Security requirements

• Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC)
• Appropriate UK residency and right to work to support sensitive data
